William Merrell Vories |
Vories came to Japan in 1905 (Meiji 38) as an English teacher in the Hachiman Commercial High School. He continued working on social action programs such as preaching Christianity and social education based on Christianity, publishing, healthcare, and education until he died at the age of 83 in 1964 (Showa 39). He also had commercial companies including an architect's office and a drug company, Mentholatum (currently Mentum), to support his social action programs.
